Back to the future episode 2

Back to the Future: The Game Episode 2 Get Tannen! (Review)

Our story continues where the first game left off, Back to the Future Episode 2: Get Tannen! is the next chapter in the new saga told by Telltale games. The contents of Episode 2 are practically the same, if you want a review of gameplay, graphics and controls please head over to my previous review of Episode 1 here.

The first episode got us reacquainted with with the lives of Marty and Doc while introducing a new cast of characters that recieve more depth in the second episode. The second episode deals with some of the repercussions that followed with changing the course of history. The story feels authentic and fit rights at home with the Back to the Future trilogy.

The game feels equivalent to Episode one and continues to have some of the same problems that occurred in Episode one. For instance, during the course of the game you only explore a couple environments. This makes the game feel very limited and creates the desire for more refreshing locations.

The puzzles return in Episode 2 however, they continue to feel either too confusing or too simple. The hint system is back and slightly improved to change the intensity of the hints. Some of the puzzles have been reduced to being simple fetch quests which breaks down the gameplay a tad however I would rather do fetch quests than do combine random item 1 and random item 2 to create the solution for a puzzle.

The game is still enjoyable and I can’t wait for the next¬†installment in March and see where Telltale games will continue to take us.
