Minecraft 1.6 Tipped & Approved Mods!

By Edward Biot, April 27, 2011 0

Notch, the creator of the wildly successful PC beta, Minecraft has recently begun talk of the next update to the game. With the 1.5_01 update now out Notch is announcing what the next update (1.6) will hold for the fans. So far Notch has said that 1.6 will be bug fixes and, possibly one of the biggest updates to hit Minecraft ever, the Map.

So far Notch hasn‚Äôt released too many details, but he has now confirmed that he is working on a map for update 1.6. From what we¬†know the map will be based off of the paper item you can currently craft in the game and will need to be equipped to your quick bar like any other useable item. Once equipped your character will hold the map out in front of itself and you can look down to see where you have explored. The map will start blank and slowly fill itself in as you walk around with it. For more information you can look on Notch’s blog and keep checking in with us at GenGAME, as we will bring you news about the update as we get it.

Peyton Hillis wins Madden 12 Vote

By George Pekar, April 27, 2011 0

He has successfully shocked the world, again. After a very good statistical season, underdog¬† Peyton Hillis (who was not even technically the starter at the beginning of the season) has won the first ever bracket challenge vote to become the cover athlete of Madden 12. The unlikely winner was the No. 10 seed on the right hand side of the bracket and had to go through. He steamrolled almost anyone in his way this season, and did the same in the voting. Hillis beat Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice (No. 7 seed), Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan(No. 2), Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles (No. 6) and No. 1 seeded Green Bay Packers quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers to get to the finals. After this, he demolished the No. 3 seed Michael Vick in the finals with 66% of the votes. (1,091,677 were tallied) Not one person in the nation got the entire bracket correct, but the top 2 people “Mike Bowman” and “PhillyWilly69″ will revive 2 tickets to Super Bowl XLVI each. It seems like fantasy football players/gamers everywhere latched onto the feel good story of Hillis.

Call of the Dead Trailer Looks Great, Might Be Worth $15

By Trevor Magnani, April 27, 2011 0

In a recent video uploaded to the Call of Duty YouTube account, we see a teaser for the new zombie map in the Escalation map pack for Call of Duty Black Ops.¬† While we’re not entirely fans of having to drop yet another $15 on additional maps, the zombies map alone seems like it will give players enough to do to warrant the purchase.

On May 3rd, download “Escalation”, the second Call of Duty: Black Ops map pack, to play as the zombie-killing dream-team of Sarah Michelle Gellar, Robert Englund, Michael Rooker, and Danny Trejo against a new and unnerving zombie menace. Set in a mysterious, ice-covered, remote Siberian island and inspired by legendary writer and director George A. Romero, a group of four fearless explorers fight for their lives amidst an army of bloodthirsty Soviet zombies.

The Escalation Content Pack will be available first on Xbox Live on May 3, 2011.

While the Escalation map pack will be available on Xbox 360 first, the PSN may not be operational till way past then. Check beyond the break to see the most excellent trailer showing plenty of zombies dying in creative ways.  Let us know if you will be picking up the latest addition to Black Ops in the comments below!
