L+R+A+Start Pikmin Minithon

By Kevin O'Rourke, April 28, 2011 2

Our good friends over at L+R+A+Start are hosting another marathon over at their site here. Be sure to navigate on over to their live page so you can watch. This time it won’t be for a charity and will just be for fun so you don’t need to empty your wallets at all. This is the first time they’ve done a minithon so make sure you check it out before it’s over! Here’s what the officially had to say about it:

Since there are only two games in the Pikmin series, we can’t call it a marathon. So this will be L+R+A+Start’s first minithon! It will also be our first minithon or marathon that is not in benefit of a charity. Why no charity, you ask? We have been getting requests to have some streams for fun, and not for a charity. In effect, this minithon will not benefit a charity.

Minithon start date/time: April 29st at 8:00 PM EST through April 30nd

So be sure to check out L+R+A+Start’s minithon on Friday. We’ll be around in the chat so you’ll see some familiar faces.

Complaining With George – Madden Cover

By George Pekar, April 28, 2011 3

He has successfully shocked the world, again. After a very good statistical season, underdog  Peyton Hillis (who was not even technically the starter at the beginning of the season) has won the first ever bracket challenge vote to become the cover athlete of Madden 12. The unlikely winner was the No. 10 seed on the right hand side of the bracket and had to go through. He steamrolled almost anyone in his way this season, and did the same in the voting. Hillis beat Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice (No. 7 seed), Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan(No. 2), Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles (No. 6) and No. 1 seeded Green Bay Packers quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers to get to the finals. After this, he demolished the No. 3 seed Michael Vick in the finals with 66% of the votes. (1,091,677 were tallied) I personally cannot handle this occurrence and am upset to say the least. Watch below to find out why!

iBuyPower to sell computers through Wal-Mart

By Edward Biot, April 28, 2011 0

Some good news for anyone who wants a custom gaming PC but doesn’t feel like doing the construction themselves, according to an article from engadget, the custom computer building website iBuyPower.com recently partnered with superstore giant WalMart. What this means for you the consumer is you can now jump over to WalMart.com and build yourself a custom gaming rig. While you will only have limited options compared to building yourself or building straight from iBuyPower you will likely save yourself a few bucks and have the option of using WalMart’s “Site to Store” service if you don’t want your new rig shipped right to your doorstep. The PC’s will start at $599, if you hurry they are on sale right now for $578, and will come with a 1 year warranty and lifetime technical support.

Editor’s Note: This is good news for our staff as the GenGAME West Coast HQ currently runs on a custom iBP rig, and we’re looking at expanding soon.
