According to Valve’s Official Portal 2 Website: “the first Portal 2 DLC, “Peer Review” will be out next Wednesday. For free.” Which would make its release on October 5th.
But according to a press release that Joystiq posted on their site (which is the only place we can seem to find this elusive press release), it will be October 4th. It will offer more co-op story, challenge modes for single and co-op maps, as well as leaderboards for those maps.
Regardless of when Valve is actually releasing it, they did release the third album of Portal 2′s fantastic soundtrack for free on their site. The link to that music as well as the other 2 albums is right here.

Battlefield 3 goes on sale in less than a month, and EA finally opened the beta for the public for all
3 major consoles. I’m just kidding. It is available for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. (Not that silly Wii) There’s no doubting that BF3 is one of the most hotly-anticipated titles of 2011, especially if you’re a PC-gamer. Chances are you’ve seen all the trailers, videos, and commercials — But now that the public can get their hands on it for themselves, I feel it will really take off. More information about this beta will be on its way so keep a heads up!
Riot Games has begun its beta for the new League of Legends game type, Dominion. Dominion is a completely different play style from what long time League players are used to. The usual style being: defend your towers, destroy their towers, and try to destroy the other team’s Nexus. The final objective of destroying the Nexus remains the same however the way you reach that goal is completely different. Dominion is a king-of-the-hill style of play. There are 5 capture points on the map and teams seek to control them for as long as they can. While controlling capture points health gets taken away from the enemy’s Nexus, until it depletes fully and explodes.
The achievement list for the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been leaked via Xbox360achievements.org.
For those of you who want to get a quick preview of what to expect from this game then by all means feel free to read ahead. For those of you who don’t want the game to be spoiled, proceed with caution as this may potentially spoil the story. In keeping with the style of Call of Duty achievements, they are largely single-player with some achievements in Spec Ops mode. As always the achievements are not based on multiplayer gameplay. Modern Warfare 3 will be released on November 8th so you have between now and then to make the tough decision on spoiling the game for yourself.

Just a few minutes ago, Microsoft has emailed users from the Xbox LIVE Public Preview to tell them that the recent title update will in-fact, break their copy of the game. Microsoft is giving users who are in the program the ability to download a Games On Demand copy of the game for free. Check out beyond the break for the full email!
I’m sure we’re all aware of the Minecraft 1.9 pre-release that dropped earlier today, and if you pay attention to GenGAME.net you know all about the Snow Golems. So after some experimenting with them, I thought it would be a pretty cool idea to spawn roughly 100 of these snowmen and see how they do in the middle of the night.
Our own Andy Pugh posted a video on his Youtube channel Capp00. “Capp the Everyday Gamer” shows us a bit more about the Snow Golems/Snowmen featured in Minecraft’s 1.9 pre-release. This tutorial shows how to make these lovable snowmen.
Following the release of Minecraft update 1.8 Mojang has released a 1.9 “pre-release” for Minecraft. On Notch’s Twitter he stated that:
“We’ll do a 1.9 pre-release today, and a full release after feedback. More Adventure Mode content will come in 1.10, we’re splitting it up!”
It seems that Mojang is releasing 1.9 early and judging everyone’s feedback and adjusting the release of 1.9 accordingly. A rather humorous leaked image showed a friendly snowman that will be in the latest 1.9 update.
This update seems to fix a few things with Endermen, and focuses more on the Nether. In addition, we’ll likely see more improvements on the food bar, experience bar, and perhaps a use for some of the new items like vines in 1.8. We’ll see more updates after Notch receives feedback on the pre-release. The 1.9 pre-release can be downloaded from this link. Be sure to have a backup jar file if you play on an online server that isn’t updated yet!
Alienware Arena is hosting a large tournament for all League of Legends players. There are currently 1325 teams signed for the tournament but that doesn’t mean all of these teams are full. While players can be a free agent of sorts they may also start their own teams. I (Joe Conkling) will be part of a team that will be competing in the tournament. Registration is still open and the competition begins September 23rd, 2011. Those who are eligible must be residents of USA, Mexico, and Canada (excluding Quebec) and be 13 years of age or older. The season ends November 20th, 2011 after which the top 32 teams will proceed to an invitational tournament. This invitational will take place November 26 through December 1, 2011. Of course with a tournament comes a prize pool, and this one’s prize pool is $1500. Head on over to Alienware Arena to sign up, and tell everyone you know that might be interested.
