Wii U System Update Offers General Performance Boosts

wii-u-menu

Wii U’s latest system update promises the usual increased performance and system stability. Theoretically this means faster menu loadtimes and fewer random crashes. Since downloading the update, I’ve noticed that my system doesn’t take as long to move from built-in applications like Miiverse and the eShop to the Wii U main menu and vice-versa – load times have been cut at least in half generally speaking. Others report that they haven’t seen consistently better loading times.

Of course, there’s also the fact that it’s the middle of the night for most Wii U owners to consider. It could simply be that these online-based features can work better without serious server stress to consider. And it’s worth mentioning that games will still take just as long to load. We’ll test things out during daylight hours tomorrow just to make sure.

Read on for an official statement about the update from Nintendo.

Load times haven’t been that much better. I was hoping for a great difference though getting to the Wii U Home menu is much quicker. Starting up Miiverse is a little slow though. I’m sure that with the next update it’ll get quicker. I really hope this fixed the freezing problem as well.

The first time I started up Miiverse after the update, it was a bit slow. Every time since then, it’s been faster.
