Community Poll: Which Zelda Game Looks Best in HD?

A couple days back, we showed off a comparison video showing footage of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword running in HD vs. SD. The post was a smashing success, so we’ve decided to take things up a notch…this time, with a poll asking you to compare the various GameCube and Wii Zelda games in HD and tell us which one you think looks best.

We’ve rounded up HD footage of The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess to go with the Skyward Sword video – now it’s your turn to tell us which one looks best!

Skyward Sword in HD

They all look outstanding. I’d say Skyward Sword looks the best, but it might just be because it easily shows the most noticeable difference.

It’s a tie for me between WW and SS. TP was great but I’ve always enjoyed colorful games more. I’ll have to keep reviewing them

I take it that you’re asking which one is improved the most by HD. Otherwise it’s just a case of which artstyle is your favorite, regardless of resolution.

    • Alex Plant

Bingo. I don’t expect most people to really grasp the line of difference between those topics, though.

Thanks for insulting your reader base.

I don’t really mind that they’re responding that way! It’s what they enjoy most that matters in the end, regardless of what the most technically impressive or most objectively sophisticated style is.

I played SS in HD and it looked better of course but TP just feels more at home there, the colorful ones can do with or without it since they really dont have in depth textures. But that dont mean they still wont look fantastic.

Skyward Sword looks the best, although he should have used at least 4x anti-aliasing, which would have made the edges of polygons look much smoother. You don’t even need to overclock to 4 GHz in order to have it run well. Anything above 3.5 GHz is sufficient, also long as you have a good graphics card. Anti-aliasing is GPU intensive, not CPU intensive.

Definitely Twilight Princess if you ask me. Skyward Sword looks beautiful as well, but it’s not as noticeable as Twilight Princess. As for Wind Waker, it may have been my computer being a dork, but it didn’t look very much better in HD.

Really, really difficult decision here, and I think my final choice is Skyward Sword. The colorful artwork all stands out fantastically and just as he said, the blending of colors in the background is gorgeous. Twilight Princess was noticeable, too, but it might be my slant toward Skyward Sword’s artwork that makes me choose it. Wind Waker, however, whether I love the art direction taken, was hardly noticeable, and almost certainly, the game was built with no HD in mind to support its looks, even if TP & SS didn’t intend high resolution either.

Wind Waker and Skyward Sword seem to have improved somewhat over Twilight Princess, although that’s because TP didn’t have a side-by-side comparison. I still think TP would be the ideal choice so it could bring a more mature version of Zelda, which is what Im really looking foward to.

Wind Waker has least votes for HD remake… Wind Waker HD remake confirmed by Nintendo.

    Twilight Princess.
Maybe because I’m a huge TP fanboy, or I just prefer the art style, but it looks best to me. I really wish they’d made TP in HD rather than WW on the Wii U, I’d probably of bought one just for that.

Woops… My comment below was directed at the 3 pictures at the top, I only just watched the videos. I’d have to go with Skyward Sword. It looks pretty on the Wii in terms of colours, but it’s such a blurry mess, in HD it looks amazing.
