New Super Luigi U DLC Screenshots: It Really is Like a New Game

Nintendo didn’t have a lot to show for today’s New Super Mario Bros. U DLC announcement – New Super Luigi U – but that’s probably because the game is largely based directly on the gameplay and assets for the core game. We do know, however, that it’ll feature Luigi, that it’ll be a full-sized “second quest” of sorts in terms of its number of levels, and that all of these levels will be newly-designed.

There aren’t a whole lot of screenshots to go with the announcement, but they each show off new level designs. Personally, I’m way more stoked for this than I was for the New Super Mario Bros. 2 DLC.

Hop inside for the screens.

Part of me is hoping it’ll have some sort of multiplayer, and I can play as Mario. I never really cared for Luigi, I feel like he’s more of a younger sibling/friend who doesn’t own a console favorite.

Hopefully it will be a little more challenging than the normal story mode.

… Well, it looks like a new game in the sense that all the NSMB games have mostly been level design remixes with mostly old content.
