Saints Row 4 Gets a Teaser, Followed By a Release Date

The Saints will indeed be returning, and quite sooner than you probably expected. The next installment of the former THQ franchise is set to be released on August 20, 2013 and will include content that was previously cancelled for Saints Row: The Third. More details will be announced by Deep Silver during a PAX East presentation next week. ‘Til then, you can watch the trailer and a read few thoughts after the jump.

SRIV is being developed in a joint effort between Volition and Deep Silver, who both are owned by parent company Koch Media. This change in development teams comes after Koch purchased Volition (and it’s corresponding franchises) for $22.3 million during THQ’s bankruptcy auction. While the outrageous gameplay seen in previous installments of Saints Row is likely to remain, the big quote from the trailer seems to be pointing toward a possible closing of the series.

“The Climactic chapter of the saga that changed all the rules and blew the minds of a generation”

Is this the end of Saints Row? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
