Walmart Lists ‘Zelda 2 RPG’ and Other Teased Wii U Titles for Pre-order

Usually pre-order placeholders aren’t really worth paying attention to. However, there’s always room for exceptions, and this batch of Walmart Wii U listings – including a spot for “Zelda 2 RPG” for Wii U – manages to make my list. Technically everything on the list has been announced in some form or another – all of them were mentioned at Wii U Direct in January, for example – but none of them has had an official release date or title announcement yet.

“Zelda 2 RPG” is unique among the other new placeholders in that it actually has a product description that reveals some surprising info that fans of the franchise might wish were true…

The Legend of Zelda Wii U (Working Title), a Nintendo console exclusive, is a pre-release general action game to be released in Q4 of 2013.

That’s right: The Legend of Zelda Wii U (I thought it was “Zelda 2 RPG”?) will debut in Q4 of this year! Actually, it probably won’t. Placeholders are, after all, still placeholders, product description or no.

And before you ask: no, this isn’t actually supposed to be a listing for Wind Waker Wii U. It has a separate listing here.

Here are all of the placeholders for unrevealed games that have appeared so far:

Mario Kart Wii U
Mario 3D Wii U
Shin Megami Tensei / Fire Emblem Wii U
Super Smash Bros. Wii U
Zelda 2 RPG Wii U

Uh, why is it $100? O_e I mean, I get having an early placeholder pre-order, but logically it’d be the retail price, which would be in the ballpark of $60….

They always do that. Amazon does the same thing. $99 so they know, even at a boxed set, it’s more then enough then what the price will be.

  • Tensei

I’m telling you now 3D Mario and Mario Kart will not be enough to save the Wii U. The last hope for the Wii U to appear relevant is whatever Retro’s working on. They best atleast show a trailer at E3.

Metroid, Zelda, rebooted titles like: F-Zero and Starfox are going to save the Wii U. Oh Oh Oh! Super Smash Bros. U will also save the consle.

      • Tensei

Oh oh didnt the Gamecube have all of those titles and still only sell 21 millions.

you cant save it. nintendo’s reputation is too tarnished and they tried to cover it with fancy gimmicks and “revolutionary” interface but they fell flat. they shouldve focused on creating solid indepth gamplay with the many franchises that had already worked so well but thet didnt. you still gotta respect them for what they did for gaming in the early years. Zelda 2 RPG? *digests* As in MMORPG? As in two hundred people in green tunics banding together to make a daring raid on The Great Palace? I’m not sure how to feel about that.

Then again, I jumped to quite a few conclusions there.

it says nothing about being massively multiplayer?

Role Playing Game, just that, don’t jump off your seat please. Zelda II, The Adventure of Link, was, sort of, a RPG.
MMORPG is “Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game”, and it says nothing about that.

See “Then again, I jumped to quite a few conclusions there.” Was kind of a joke comment. Sorry for wasting your time. Also, how would I know what Zelda II’s Great Palace is and not know that it’s a type of RPG? :P
