As of April 22nd, Nintendo will be dropping the prices of five of their best-selling 3DS Games: Super Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario Kart 7, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D and, believe it or not, Animal Crossing: New Leaf. These games will all be cut down to $29.99 for both physical copies and digital download.
Selling around 9 million copies each for Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land, as well as 7 million for Animal Crossing: New Leaf, it seems that the 25% price drop could very well put them in the 10 million range.
Remember when an Xbox One was $500 by itself? We’ve seen an unusually high number of retail-specific bundles looking to get the console at the door at a better value, but this latest one might take the cake. Retailer Fry’s has just slashed $100 off of an Xbox One bundle that includes Titanfall and Forza Motorsport 5, meaning you can now score the console and two of its biggest exclusive games for $460. You can pick up the bundle here, but you’ll have to log into an account to see the full discount.
ASDA, the UK’s second largest retailer, has slashed £50 off their Titanfall Xbox One bundle. This deal puts the bundle at £349.00, which is the same price ASDA charges for a PlayStation 4. Since then, Amazon has also matched this offer. If you’ve been waiting for the right value to come along, this could be just what you need. You can order this discounted bundle here and here.
If you’ve been looking to pick up an Xbox One with Titanfall, but don’t have quite enough cash, Target has a deal for you. The retailer is currently offering an Xbox One bundled with Titanfall and a year’s worth of Xbox LIVE for just $450. Considering the console alone retailed for $500 just a few short months ago, and both the game and the LIVE subscription retail separately for $60 each, this is an outstanding bargain.
Xbox’s “Games With Gold” program continues in April with two more free games for your collection. “Hitman: Absolution” ($20) will be free starting April 1 and ending April 15. The second game will be the XBLA game “Deadlight” ($15) and that will start April 16 and go to April 30.
A lot of people have been bummed out that these free games haven’t been very recent. Either it’s a game they played a long time ago or they just have no interest in a game that’s five years old. Well, both of these games were released in 2012. So it’s nice to see some more recent games make their way into this program. I, personally, can’t complain about a free game regardless of how old it is. Unfortunately though, one of these games I already own.
Mario Kart 8 is all set to launch on May 30, and European gamers are getting a special treat. Nintendo has unveiled a Mario Kart 8 Limited Edition deal that will net players a Spiny Shell collector’s item, pictured above. Hopefully it won’t ruin as many friendships as the item does in the game itself! You can catch a teaser for this special edition by clicking below.
The latest Humble Bundle deal features games with the namesake of Sid Meier, the creator of the Civilization games. The bundle has Civilization I through Civilization IV for any amount donated. Donating above the average unlocks Civilization V and the Gods and Kings DLC for Civilization V, and donating about $15 unlocks the Brave New World expansion for Civilization V.
If you haven’t heard the news already, Nintendo has made The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition free on the 3DS eShop until Feb. 2. News comes via a tweet from Nintendo, which notes that the promotion is being held in celebration of A Link Between Worlds. Unfortunately, this promotion looks as though it’s exclusive to the U.S. and Canada.
Unlike the original multiplayer-only GameBoy Advance version of the game, the 3DS version includes a single player mode that allows players to collect rupees and fight enemies. If you haven’t already, head to the eShop and download Four Swords before it’s too late!
Tired of your PS3? Well, Microsoft has a solution and it comes in the form of an interesting promotion in which the company will sell you an Xbox One for $399 – the same price as PS4, surprise! – if you “ditch” your PS3 at a Microsoft Store in the U.S. Hit the jump to view the full promotion.
2K and Bethesda Team up for Discounted Bundles, Skyrim & Bioshock Infinite/Borderlands 2 & Dishonored
Bethesda and 2K Games are teaming up to bring Xbox 360 and PS3 owners two very cool bundles, both of which will be available Feb. 11 for $29.99. The first bundle will include The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Bioshock Infinite, while the second will pair Borderlands 2 and Dishonored.
The new Humble Bundle X has been updated, with more great games available if you pay more than the average, which currently stands at a little over $5. The games Hoard, Strike Suit Zero, and Toki Tori 2+ have all been added, which brings the total number of games to nine. Nine games for $5 is a great deal, so grab those games now!
If you are a PlayStation Plus subscriber and have yet to pick up Bioshock: Infinite, make that decision a yes tomorrow while it’s free. The store update will also include the removal of Ico (PS3) and Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath (Vita) from the free Instant Game program so make sure you add those to your gaming collection before the update.
